WARA Dryandra Rogaine Training Event 2023
May 26th-28th 2023, Lions Dryandra Woodland Village
Dear Rogainers, WARA welcomes you to their rogaine training event for 2023!
Registrations are now open for our annual training event, aimed at all those who wish to learn about or improve on their rogaining skills, at Lions Dryandra Woodland Village on 26th-28th May 2023.
We would like to express condolences, President Peter Trenaman for the loss of his father. Peter has decided to resign, and has asked that I stand in as Proxy President until the AGM on 30.3.2023, when a new president will be elected.
The year ahead is looking good. There are nominations for all executive and a few other roles, including from several longstanding very experienced Rogainer's, and few former committee members ready to hit their roles running.
Unfortunately the March 2023 6 hour Rogaine had to be cancelled due to lack of setters and vetters. We have been fortunate to have Emma Firth and Josephine Taylor volunteer as emergency setters for the 6th May Rogaine, 1 hour north of Perth. They plan to do a 6 hour event, though if we can get Vetters to volunteer this could be extended to an 8 hour event.
Working and Vetting with our Womens Champion team, is fantastic way to increase your Rogaining Skills. There are often up to 100 people involved in the preparation for a Rogaine, most of them hidden workers in the background from maintaining the Map Bank, resetting the "beepers", filling gas bottles, maintaining equipment, loading the truck, ordering the toilets... the list goes on, and on . Please consider lending a hand, if you are ever in a position to do so.... even 30 min at end of a Rogaine is a big help, and very much appreciated.
Kind Regards Elena Ghergori
A 2nd Western Australian Rogaining Association Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 30th March 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Department of Sport and Recreation, 246 Vincent Street, Leederville. Parking is available at the venue.
Pizzas will be served from 6:15 pm. Please RSVP your attendance to
As the February AGM failed to reach a quorum, a new committee has not been elected. A number of the current committee members, including all of the executive, have elected to resign and are not standing for re-election. Consequently, WARA does not currently have a functioning committee and it is essential that we get sufficient members attending the AGM to elect a new committee. If we don’t, then WARA may cease to function and future events will need to be cancelled.
Happily we have nominations for all office bearers President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and more. Nominations for all positions including general committee positions are open until 7 days prior to the meeting. To do so please use this nomination form and email to
WARA_NOMINATION_FOR_COMMITTEE_POSITION.pdf
Information about the Committee positions can be found in the WARA Constitution on our website and feel free to reach out to current committee members with any questions. We welcome everyone to step forward and help run the association as you can.
It would be great to reach the minimum number of members required to vote in the new Committee and even better to see a large number attend in support of them and WARA.
